10 Mar 3 Tips on Avoiding Pain & Injury
Let’s face it…injuries happen to the best of us! While there is little that we can do about naturally occurring accidents, there are preventive ways to minimize self-inflicted injuries.
Here are a few recommendations:
☑️ Muscle Pain: Be sure to stretch and warm up your body before any form of exercise. To alleviate muscle pain, try applying hot and cold compresses to the affected area.
☑️ Joint Pain: What you put “into” your body has just as much of an impact on joint pain as what you do “to” your body. Increase your calcium and Vitamin D intake, and stay hydrated. If injury does occur, minimize movements slightly to prevent further damage.
☑️ Sciatic Nerve Pain: The sciatic nerve travels through the body from the lower back down to the legs. Pain can be felt on a constant basis, or it can come and go depending on location. Stretching the muscles in the affected area can help prevent this pain. Also, a deep tissue massage often helps alleviate the pain.
Of course, everyone deals with pain and injury differently. The important thing to remember is to listen to your body and treat the affected area quickly.
